Farewell Angelina

Farewell Angelina will perform at the Lea County Event Center, in Hobbs, NM. This all-female country band is on a fast track to “celebrity” success. They have been invited to perform for major country events such as the Nashville Hall of Fame, CMA parties and for Dolly Parton. Their video “Ghosts” spent 12-weeks on CMT’s 12-pack countdown. Southwest Symphony Chamber Orchestra

The Southwest Symphony Chamber Orchestra will be at Tydings Auditorium in Hobbs, NM.  The chamber orchestra will play a concert of pops music and light classics. The trumpet, percussion and keyboard musicians will join the chamber orchestra on the pops tunes. Some of the classical pieces will include Vivaldi’s “Spring” from The Four Seasons; Mozart’s Eine Kleine Nachtmusik and Bach’s Brandenburg Concerto #3.

Southwest Symphony Strings Virtual Concert

String players from the Southwest Symphony and Dr. Mark Jelinek, Artistic Director will be performing three short pieces. The selections are: Allegro in D for Strings  by Antonio Vivaldi; Cavatina by Antonin Dvorak and the first movement of the Telemann Suite by George Telemann.

Each musician recorded the music in their home and electronically sent it to the editor, Tim Breon, in Pennsylvania. Tim edited each recording so the end result is the musicians playing together. He has also edited recordings for Williamsport Symphony.

This virtual concert will be the symphony’s final of a three-concert virtual season. Recordings of this concert and other past Southwest Symphony events will be available to watch on the Southwest Symphony’s YouTube channel. All virtual concerts are free of charge to help bring music to the community.

Petroglyph String Quartet Virtual Concert

Founded in Albuquerque, New Mexico in 2014, the Petroglyph String Quartet performs classical and contemporary works by the world’s greatest composers. Violinists Michael Allerheiligen and Yakima Fernandez, violist Karl Winkler and cellist Anastasia Nellos  have performed with professional ensembles including Santa Fe Pro Musica, the Santa Fe Symphony, the New Mexico Philharmonic, the Southwest Symphony, and the San Juan Symphony. The Quartet is noted for innovative programs, energetic and thoughtful performances, and superb musicality, with recitals in Albuquerque at Robertson & Sons Violin Shop recital hall, in Rio Rancho at the Loma Colorado library arts series, in Santa Fe for the Southwest Arts recital Series, and in Durango, CO for the 3rd Avenue Arts recital series.

Southwest Symphony Presents Pecos Valley Brass Quintet Virtual Concert

Southwest Symphony presents the Pecos Valley Brass Quintet virtual concert on Tuesday, April 6, 2021. The Pecos Valley Brass Quintet was formed in 2012 and the group plays at special church functions, Old Lincoln Days, Fort Stanton enactments, Christmas parties, funerals, community band concerts, patriotic occasions and other venues. Their repertoire includes classical music, patriotic songs, ragtime, band classics, Christmas carols and arranged folk songs.
